POEM 1.1: Mirrors

Mirrors

Farzaneh Pourmazaheri

Shall we break the mirrors

Which reflect our features

And deliver the same looks

That we send like salty tears

They are professional painters

who depict our faces

They can even count

All the lines and traces

They tell us what we are

Why we live and why we die

They are large albums

Of many men near or far

Maybe happy maybe sad

Maybe calm or maybe mad

These are what we can see

In that large solid pad

They teach us good manners

How to burn jealousy

What we need is humbleness

To conquer selfishness

Mirrors are so honest.

Often don’t show the best

So live as what you are

But not in the devil’s nest
