After the long summer sloth within our academic calendar, the Department of English Language and Literature of Shahib Beheshti University will revive with a session on the poetry of Bijan Kelki – the second of THRESHOLD Poetry Translation Workshop.
The session includes:
- An introduction to the poetry and style of Bijan Kelki by Mohammad Tolouei
- A survey of the select translations of one of Bijan Kelki’s poems (SEE Poetry Translation Challenge 2) by a jury of SBU students under the supervision of Dr Soheil.
- Decision upon the next issue challenge.

Poetry Translation Workshop tends to work on the translation of a poem by the deceased poet, Bijan Kelki, for the next issue of Threshold Quarterly. In case you are interested, please send your translations of the poem either to Threshold@inbox.com, FarzanehDoosti@gmail.com (subject: Poetry Translation Challenge No. 2) or to the Department of English Language and Literature at Shaihd Beheshti University by Tir 7, 1387 (27 June, 2008). The deadline will not be extended.
The translations will be analysed in an open discussion session the date of which will be further announced.

The new volume of Threshold, numbers 2 & 3 was finally published. Within this 194-page journal you can read various topics and interesting subjects, such as specific essays on three different branches of English Language and Literature – namely, Teaching EFL, Literature, and Translation Studies – together with interviews, news, profiles, poetry and poetry translation challenge, book and film reviews, caricature, etc.

Welcome Everybody
Threshold Quarterly is the journal of the Department of English Language and Literature at Shahid Beheshti University which deals specifically with three main branches of this field in Iran, namely:
English Language and Literature
Translation Studies
& Teaching English as Foreign Language
The first volume of Threshold was published last summer the content of which is now free to download. We are now busy publishing the numbers 2 and 3 for the Summer and Fall 2007.
The Editorial manager of the quarterly is Dr Amir Ali Nojoumian, and the current Editor-in chief, Mehdi Mashayekhi.
Threshold welcomes any contribution from those interested.
